Compressed air filters, air regulators, and lubricators protect and service the downstream components in a compressed air system.
Compressed air filters remove dirt and water from compressed air systems. Filters are rated by their micron rating which is the largest size of particle the filter can capture. Numerous levels of filtration are available to suit different application requirements.
Compressed air regulators control the air pressure in a compressed air system. Most regulators consist of a diaphragm and a biased spring. Standard air regulators usually have an accuracy of +/- 5 psi. Precision regulators are available for applications that require accurate pressure control.
Compressed air lubricators are used to supply lubricating oil to compressed air components. Lubricants help to reduce wear and friction in pneumatic cylinders and actuators. Some pneumatic components are available as 'dry', 'non-lube' or 'lubed-for-life'. Lubricators should not be used with these components as the added lubricant will wash away the component's factory-installed lubrication.
An FRL is a combination unit consisting of a filter, regulator and a lubricator. FRLs often include modular mounting brackets, integral OSHA-compliant shut-off valves, porting blocks, and pressure-switch mounting ports.
